Kettlebell.com Staff Writer

Kettlebell.com Staff Writer Shawn Mozen began studying the martial arts at the age of seven with the art of Judo. At twelve he was encouraged by a friend to try karate, an art he subsequently spent fifteen years studying. As a result of his Karate Sensei's diverse martial arts background and experiences as a police officer his training was not typical of most traditional schools. Boxing, grappling and reality close-quarters fighting were regular elements in those classes and the lesson's he learned there would shape his views and dedication to reality training.
The foundation he gained in those early years studying karate helped him develop many fighting attributes. Most importantly that training gave rise to several questions in his mind about the nature of martial arts training and in particular training for self defense. He often wondered what was the best way to train and teach people self-defense. To answer these questions and the many that grew out of them he turned to friends, educators, coaches, and many martial artists.
To improve as an instructor he participated in coaching development programs and has been recognized as a coach by the Federation Quebecoise de Boxe Olympique and under the National Coaching Certification Program. In addition Shawn has trained with some of the top martial arts and fitness trainers in the world. Shawn has authored three Kettlebell instructional DVD'sand written the only Canadian workbook on the subject. He has taught everyone from law enforcement to professional athletes and continues to share his knowledge through seminars across Canada and the U.S. With his diverse background, Shawn offers his clients one on one personal training that can not be matched.
